At Happy Little Soles, we’re thrilled to support emerging barefoot brands from around the globe, including the South African brand Common Tread. Founded by husband-and-wife team John and Nicole van Besouw, an engineer and occupational therapist, Common Tread was inspired by the need for healthy, practical footwear for their son.

Crafted in collaboration with skilled artisans in Cape Town and Durban, their shoes and sandals are handmade using locally sourced materials, including premium soft Namibian leather. Featuring a 3mm crepe rubber sole and 2mm leather insole, these ultra-flexible and lightweight designs offer a total stack height of just 5mm, making them among the most barefoot-friendly options available.
